About the event
We are gathering for more life affirming conversation over tea/coffee and cake at our 6th Death Cafe here at Te Whenua Retreat, and hope you can join us.
Death Cafe is a worldwide phenomenon that began in London in 2011, with the objective of 'increasing awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives'. Since then there have been more that 12,000 Death Cafes around the world.
At a Death Cafe people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea and experience and participate in a group directed discussion around death. Far from being morbid, the discussions are lively, free flowing and safe.
Death Cafe is a not-for-profit organisation, and this event is free to attend. We will be offering tea, coffee and some delicious home-made baking for koha donation.
Please arrive from 10am for tea & cake, and the Death Cafe will run from 10.30am to 12pm noon.
Our Death Cafe will be lightly facilitated by the highly experienced Claire Turnham MBE, the founder of Only With Love. Claire returned to NZ from UK in 2020, where she has hosted many death cafes and brings a wealth of life/death experiences with her, and we are lucky that she has chosen to continue her valuable work right here in Queenstown.
