About the event

Our 4-night NOURISHED retreats are the heart and soul of Te Whenua, and we have further evolved and expanded them for 2024.

They offer a heart-centred and hands-on immersive experience, and re-awaken us to the joy and transformative potential of delicious, seasonal, cooking & eating.

Our NOURISHED retreats includes two half-day cooking classes and daily thought provoking ideas sessions, where we explore a range of topics from historical culinary traditions that understood food as medicine; hero ingredients within plant-based diets; longevity, lifespan and health-span in relation to food choices; food and the mind. There will also be plentiful playful explorations of flavours, textures and aromas that all contribute to the enjoyment of our meals.

The facilitated sessions are interspersed with valuable downtime for you to relax into the tranquility and natural beauty of Te Whenua Retreat, reflect on the days expereince, and tune-in to your personal needs and 'take-aways' from what has been shared (and tasted!)

Knowing the numerous benefits, nearly 50% of us are choosing to reduce our meat and dairy intake year by year. We also recognise that becoming 100% vegan is not necessarily your goal. We are all unique in our love of food, our health and our passions, and labels are often not helpful. Our NOURISHED retreats will support your on-going personal journey to whatever degree you are adopting or exploring a more plant-focused style of eating.

These retreats run with a minimum of 2 guests and a maximum of 5. If you are considering this retreat with a friend and the published dates don't quite work please get in touch to see if we can create something for you.

Jenny began her study of nutritional medicine in 2000, and has been a professional chef for 14+ years. She began her career in London and moved to NZ in 2011. Te Whenua has enabled her to find her own balanced way of cooking and eating - she shares vibrant & modern plant-based recipes which are within reach of everyone regardless of experience & skill level. Prior to launching Te Whenua Retreat, she was the Head Chef at the globally acclaimed AroHā Wellness Retreat in Glenorchy for 3.5 years. She is passionate about whole food plant-based diets, and also the relationship between our mental health, emotions and the foods we eat as part of a wholistic approach to cooking and eating.  Foods that make her excited include; in-season Otago apricots, home-grown rocket, walnuts, NZ olive oil, tahini and of course, dark chocolate.
